MVP: If you loved the first Guardians of the Galaxy, you are gonna love the second. It is definitely worth your time. Lots of fun 80s references and goodies. Lots of great feel good music. Visually stunning. Absolutely beautiful.
I loved GotG 2. I had a lot of fun, and it was everything that I could have wanted from it. Most of the people I went to see it with said that they liked it, but that it felt very much like a sequel. They liked the first one better. Personally, I loved GotG 2 as much as I loved the first one. I went into GotG 1, not really expecting anything. I had never heard of it before, but I thought it looked cool. And I loved it. Absolutely adored it. I went into GotG 2 the same way, no expectations. And again, completely loved it.
Also, if you like Steven Universe, enjoy the special cameo from Yellow Diamond.
