Little Witch Academia Recommendation

This post does not contain spoilers.

Little Witch Academia is the story of a girl named Akko who attends the Luna Nova magical school to follow in the footsteps of her idol, Shiny Chariot. She is pretty terrible at magic, but she doesn’t let that stop her. An adorable, inspiring, beautifully animated show.

A while ago, around 2013, a 26 minute short was released called Little Witch Academia. It was one of the most adorable and well animated animes I had ever seen. Sadly it was only 26 minutes long start to finish. Well this year, Netflix has released the first season of a full fledged Little Witch Academia series!

This show is honest to goodness one of my favorite animes of all time already. The story is adorable, enlivening, and fun. The characters are charming, well rounded and interesting. Also, the animation is wonderful. You would think you were watching a Disney film. Watching this show is a feel good all around fun experience and I highly recommend it. Especially if you are into shows like Steven Universe, Avatar The last Airbender, and other plot driven children’s cartoons. Or if you were into the Harry Potter books, you would probably love this show too.

The short is also on Netflix, but I DO NOT recommend that you watch the short first. If  you haven’t already seen the short, don’t. It has some elements to it that would be considered spoilers for the series. There are things revealed in the short that are not even revealed during the first season of Little Witch Academia. There is also Little Witch Academia: The Enchanted Parade, a 55 minute long movie. I have not personally seen this so I do not know how it relates to the short or the series.

Go watch this show, you will not regret it. And the more people who watch it, the more likely that we will get a second season! Whoo!
