Wakfu TV Show Recommendation

Kersti Rating: 8/10

On Netflix!

MVP: If you are a fan of shows like Airbender and Steven Universe, Wakfu is the show for you. Like similar shows, it starts off with a general ‘kiddy’ vibe, but soon becomes a much deeper, much more epic and beautiful experience. I highly recommend watching it in its original French as the English dub is a little grating.

Wakfu is the story of a young boy with awesome portal powers, and his quest to discover who he is. He meets a heroic group of friends along the way, and together they save the world from an evil villain named Nox. Wakfu is based off of the world of the MMO video game of the same name.

Despite first impressions, the animation and art quality of this show is very high. Much of the scenes were characters simply stand and talk to each other are very simple animations. Only once the effects and the fight scenes kick in can you see where all the production budget has gone, and it is so worth it. Wakfu is a French TV show, and if you don’t know my opinion of French animation, it is awesome.

My boyfriend and I have just started on the 3rd season after a long wait. Right off the bat it kicks you hard in the crotch of your feels. We realized after starting that we were a little lost. This is due to the fact that the series ‘The Quest for the Six Dofus Eliatropes’ takes place between season 2 and season 3. So I do recommend watching those in correct sequence.
